Introduction to EDI

EDI (electrodeionization) is a kind of pure water manufacturing technology by inte-grating technologies of ion exchange, ion exchange membrane and ion migration. It ex-pertly integrates electrodialysis with ion exchange technology. The charged ion in water can be moved by way of high voltage of electrode on both ends. Removal by ion migration will be sped up together with ion exchange resin and selective resin membrane, by which the water is purified.
In EDI process, the ion, under the action of electric field, is removed through ion ex-change membrane. Meanwhile, hydrogen ion and hydroxyl ion are generated out of water molecule under action of electric filed. Such ion results in cyclic regeneration of ion ex-change resin to keep ion exchange resin in optimum state.
EDI desalination rate can reach 99% and above. If initial desalination is conducted to water by way of anti-osmosis devices before using EDI, then ultrapure water with con-ductivity as high as 15 M¦¸.cm and above can be manufactured after EDI desalination.
